One of the best sounding headset microphone's for speaking you'll ever hear (but not see) is the Countryman E6 i – a super small condenser mic with a very low profile boom that rests securely and comfortably on one ear and is almost unnoticeable at even a short distance from the person wearing it.

Countryman recently added this i version E6 to it's lineup, it is the same quality mic just more flexible and easier to adjust. This wireless version is custom matched for the AudioTechnica 1400 and 3000 Series belt/bodypack transmitters. It is designed to be used by those with a normal speaking or singing voice and can take a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 135dB. Other versions are available for individuals with louder speaking and singing voices. With an omnidirectional pickup pattern and a very thin flexible boom, the E6 i is easy to position for the best sound and comfort. Even though it is an omni mic, it offers great gain before feedback in a way that is more typical of unidirectional mics.

The E6 comes with three different protective caps; each one creates a slightly different frequency response. One cap leaves the response flat, another adds brightness by bumping the response curve up about +4dB in the 12 to 15k range. A third cap gives a very bright response by bumping up the curve +8dB in the same range.
Whether you intend to use the E6 i for speech or song, it will provide excellent studio-quality sound with the absolute least visibility.

How do you like the Countryman E6 i microphone over all? [Matt Lampley] I am exceeding pleased with our E6. What do you like best about it? [Matt Lampley] We use this mic every week and every week I am amazed at how good it sounds. I can’t believe such a tiny microphone can produce such rich and full sound. In fact, the people in the pew can tell a huge difference in this mic and even the B3 we were using before. There is a man in our church in his 70’s with a hearing aid and he came and told me that he really could tell a big difference in new microphone (E6) and the old one (B3). How has it affected your ministry? [Matt Lampley] We have a very animated pastor. He moves and gestures through his sermon every week. Before we started using the E6 many times he would turn his head out of the sweet spot of his lapel mic.
