Class 1 (3 PM - Spokane & Bellevue)(11 AM - Portland) Going Live with Wireless — Joseph Wagoner / AKG USA, Product Manager, Tour/Install/Wireless This class will begin with an overview of the new FCC Report and Order concerning low power users in the 698~806 (700) MHz range and how the DTV transition has changed our RF landscape. Joseph will help you understand what the new changes by the FCC will mean to you today and in the coming near future. He will discuss what you can do to adapt to the new regulations and which path makes the most sense to you or your organization. Joseph will also discuss how to properly design and use a multi-channel wireless antenna system for fixed install and mobile applications. You will also learn how to calculate antenna gain to realize nominal gain to the antenna distribution system and why that is important. Class 2 (4 PM - Spokane & Bellevue)(12 Noon - Portland) Networked Audio Systems for Today's Worship Spaces — Loren Robinson & Brad Benn / Crown Audio In today's world of "Networked EVERYTHING", what are the advantages of having your current audio system Networked, or all of the audio system on my entire campus networked? This session will cover the "basics" of system networking, from a simple single system, to networking an entire campus with multiple systems. Hear the advantages to both system operators and facilities management, and get an idea about the costs involved in obtaining these advantages. System Networking is one of the current "buzz terms" in the industry, but many companies have been doing network system control for over 15 years and network control with a Digital Audio path for over 10 years. The presenters will cover the history of the evolution and the current industry options available. Class 3 (5 PM - Spokane & Bellevue)(1 PM - Portland) Acoustics for Worship Spaces — Ron Simonson, P.E. / CCI Solutions You will learn the materials and methods used to create acoustical environments that enhance clarity in contemporary worship spaces. Ron Simonson, P.E. has been the designer of record for hundreds of church buildings in over 30 years of practicing acoustical design. Ron will show you why some rooms work better than others for contemporary worship and what to do if your worship space needs help! Class 4 (6 PM - Spokane & Bellevue)(2 PM - Portland) Live Sound Setup and Optimization — Jim Mathews / Harman Rep, FOH Engineer Veteran FOH Engineer Jim Mathews will share tips on how to set yourself up for a successful show or service. Some of the topics he will cover include: What are your microphones listening to besides the intended use; Put time on your side - frequency response is important, time is more so; Setting up the console for ease of use and maximum control so you can mix like a conductor. He will also be sharing mixing tips for room EQ, high pass filters, channel strip EQ, compressors and gates and the most important mic, the pastors lavalier! Class 5 (7 PM - Spokane & Bellevue)(3 PM - Portland) Digital Mixing — John Hart / Soundcraft Digital mixing brings a new level of power and ease to the church sound tech. This class will discuss digital live sound mixing console trends and technologies including the following topics: pros and cons of digital consoles, integration of digital consoles into existing facility infrastructure, an overview of currently available control surface topologies and form factors, how to configure a low cost multi-track recording solution, and discussion of unique technologies from the Harman mixer group including Vistonics and Fader Glow.
