Speed Cleaning Recommended Cleaning Instruction for High Speed Duplicators
Your duplicator is no doubt one of the most important elements in your audio cassette ministry. You probably don't handle your cassettes harshly, but do you remember to, or know how to, properly clean your duplicator? Proper cleaning and care of your duplicator is extremely important in making good copies and extending long-term use of your equipment.
Our repair technicians are truly some of the best in the business, and we would like to share with you their tips for cleaning your cassette duplicator and keeping it running smoothly.
Please refer to the diagram, if needed.
1. After every seven to ten copies (per copy position), or as needed, wipe the oxide residue from the tape and erase heads with a dry cloth.
2. If the oxide residue cannot be removed with a dry cloth, then 99% isopropyl alcohol may be used with a dry cloth or swab to clean the heads. Please use the alcohol very sparingly! Alcohol dripping down insto the capstans will damage the machine by displacing the factory prescribed lubricants. After cleaning with 99% isopropyl alcohol, let the heads dry for at least 15 minutes.
3. To clean the pressure rollers and capstans, turn the machine on so that the pressure rollers and capstans are spinning. Wrap a dry, clean, lint-free cloth around your index finger and apply slight pressure to the roller. Move your finger up and down in vertical contact with the roller until all oxide residue has been removed. Do the same with the capstan. If the capstan has a black band around it that does not come off with the dry cleaning method, use a swab that has been dipped in 99% isopropyl alcohol. Before you touch the swab to the capstan, make sure to blot out any excess moisture off of the swab.
4. Use a dry, clean paint brush to wipe out dust and dirt particles and cassette shell chafing that may be loose in the top of the machine.
It is best if you clean your machine at the end of every production day. That way, you will always be ready to start production again with a clean machine. If demagnetization or more in-depth cleaning is needed, please call one of our qualified technicians at 1-800-426-8664. It may be possible to demagnetize your machine yourself, but we do not recommend that you attempt demagnetization without first talking to one of our technicians.
