One of the challenges typically faced by performers that travel with their own PA system has been making sure that the speakers can reliably cover the space so everyone can hear, which can be especially problematic if you're performing on a stage above the audience or performing in front of bleachers/risers. Bose has developed a unique solution to this issue with their F1 Model 812 Flexible Array Loudspeaker which features a flexible baffle that allows you to adjust the eight-driver mid-high speaker array into four different shapes for the best coverage possible.
Adjusting the speaker array is as simple as pushing or pulling the top and bottom sections to form four different shapes with unique coverage patterns - Straight, J, Reverse J, and C. The "Straight" pattern is useful when you have a standing audience and their heads are approximately the same height as the loudspeaker, while the "J" pattern works well when the speaker is on a raised stage with the audience on the floor below; "Reverse J" is great for an audience in raised seating that starts at loudspeaker height and extends above it, and the "C" pattern is also ideal for raised seating with the first row starting on the floor with the loudspeaker. Once you've set the array to the desired configuration, the speaker will automatically adjust the EQ to maintain ideal tonal balance for each pattern. This all adds up to a loudspeaker that will provide you with clear and consistent sound for all your performing needs.
This powered line array speaker is equipped with eight 2.25" mid-high drivers along with a 12" low frequency woofer for full-range sound output. It also offers 1000 Watts of system power and a maximum output of 126 dB SPL, which means that even if you're performing in front of a large audience, the F1 Model 812 can handle the task of making sure everyone in the room can hear. If you need additional low frequency output, Bose also offers the companion F1 Subwoofer (sold separately) that is equipped with two 10" woofers and an integrated stand to mount the F1 Model 812, which eliminates the need for a separate speaker stand, cutting down on transport and setup times. If you do need to make use of a separate speaker stand, the F1 Model 812 also includes a standard 35 mm pole cup on the bottom of the speaker.
The F1 Model 812 also comes with an integrated 2-channel mixer, with Channel 1 offering an XLR-1/4" combo jack input that can accept microphone or line level signals with the flip of a switch. Channel 2 includes left and right RCA inputs and a 1/4" input that can accept balanced TRS or unbalanced TS connections. Both channels have independent volume controls, and there's also a balanced XLR line output that allows you to daisy-chain multiple speakers together.
