The PreSonus Comp16 Audio Compressor is by far the most user-friendly audio compressor you can purchase on the planet. The Comp16 will improve your existing sound system by smoothing and controlling the instrument or voice that needs a more consistent average sound or volume. Audio Compressors are the most widely used signal processor in the professional world and the most daunting concept for non-professional operators. Here at CCI Solutions, our goal is to help you with your sound equipment needs and it was always a challenge for us to bring someone up to speed using a compressor - until now. Based on the award winning BlueMax compressor design, the PreSonus COMP16 Audio Compressor, designed to demystify the use of a compressor and aid you in improving your sound. Whether you are recording or using the PreSonus Comp16 compressor live, you can easily select one of the presets and follow a couple of simple concepts and with the twist of a knob fix one of the many problems associated with projecting or recording audio content. Here is an example of an audio fix using a compressor: You have a church board member that reports periodically to the congregation that never speaks at the same volume, driven by what they have to say it can start out low and go to the moon in a matter of seconds. The poor volunteer sound person is trying to keep up but let's face it, it is impossible by hand. To deal with this scenario I would patch the Comp16 into the vocal channel and choose voice #2 out of the 16 presets. Next I would set the input knob all the way down and the output at 0db. Now slowly turn the input knob up (clockwise) until the gain reduction meters begin to move. Continue to rotate the input knob until the gain reduction meters read between -5db and -7db (db stand for decibels - measurement in sound volume). At this point, we would have experienced a drop in the volume from the compression applied to the signal. Now adjust the output on the Comp16 until you have added back the volume lost in the compression process, you can use the bypass button to hear the volume level without the compression engaged. This would be welcome solution in many situations, and now you are ready to stamp out unruly audio on your own with the PreSonus Comp16 Audio Compressor.
